La Fortuna, Costa Rica
Trip Dates: February 6th, 2025 - February 10th, 2025
I recently went on a girl’s trip to the magical Costa Rica where I saw tons of wildlife and stunning landscapes. When most people think Costa Rica, they think beautiful beaches, but we went a different route to explore the rainforest and nearby volcanoes.
5 days: Thursday-Monday
Flights from Indianapolis- Spirit $282
Airbnb $473 total
Rental Car from Avis $438
I’m normally not a fan of guided tours, but it’s definitely worth it to locate wildlife. I recommend going early as it gets very crowded.
Short hike down 500+ stairs, but is a beautiful sight to see. You can swim in the water or sit on the rocks and enjoy the view. Just remember, you have to hike back up!
New Fields Coffee and Chocolate Tour $46
Very educational and tasty!
Eco Termales Hot Spring with buffet dinner $81
We went in the evening and I felt like the price was fair. However, if you get extra drinks it can be pricey.
Booked this last minute and it was one of my favorite tours. Our party of 3 were the only ones on the tour and we saw monkeys, toucans, unique frogs, and multiple sloths!
This park has multiple hikes where you can see great views of the volcano and the lava fields.
Paddle boarding in Lake Arenal with parking for 2 hours $22
We planned to book with a different business, but when we arrived we found locals offering paddle boarding for a cheaper price. WEAR PLENTY OF SUN SCREEN!
Hands down our favorite breakfast/lunch spot. They had delicious coffee, fresh juice, and their food was wonderful. We went here twice because we loved it so much!
You can’t go wrong with any of these activities and there was more we could have seen, but I felt like we spent the perfect amount of time in La Fortuna. In total I spent about $1,200 on this trip, but there was no shortage of splurging... I was buying coffee, drinks and desserts at most meals. Pura Vida!
